A little about me
Hi! I’m Anna, a Polish painter based in Italy. I create watercolour landscapes and illustrations, as well as oil paintings. I especially enjoy making copies of Renaissance masterpieces, although I also work in portraiture and realism. It’s lovely to have you here. If you’d like to get in touch, feel free to reach out via the contact form.
I think that I have always had an inclination toward drawing and crafts, which is why in high school I initially chose an art-focused curriculum. I wanted to sketch and learn how to paint, and to study art history, which was my favourite subject. Out of a moment of panic, or perhaps simply drawn toward a more academic path, I left this school and later pursued a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Classical Archaeology, moving between interests and plans that both felt, frankly, almost impossible.
The turning point came shortly before I moved permanently to Rome, the “Eternal City,” where I worked on archaeological excavations at the Colosseum and the Forum of Peace. The atmosphere was extraordinary. Surrounded by art and antiquities, I experienced a moment of clarity and felt a strong need to return to drawing. I even remember the exact moment and place: it was inside the Casina delle Civette, with its fairytale-like, whimsical architecture.
I began drawing obsessively everywhere: in Roman squares, in museums, and during exhibitions. I did so without any expectations. Later, I discovered watercolours and started painting landscapes, as well as quick copies of Old Master paintings.
Eventually, around the time I completed my studies at Sapienza University and at the beginning of the global COVID-19 pandemic, I officially registered my activity as an artist. Since then, I have continued working in the creative field through collaborations, personal projects, illustrations, copies, and portraits.
